Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

My name is Sandy Adler, and I am so grateful to be able to offer compassionate home-based and virtual lactation support to the community of growing families here in Marin and the Bay Area. I believe that providing breast milk to your baby sets the foundation for optimal health for life for you both. My intention is to provide a holistic, family-centered model of care, taking into consideration baby, mother, partner, family dynamic and extended resources. Working together, we can develop a Personalized Wellness Plan and identify the tools and resources needed to help you reach your goals.

I am hoping to make lactation support affordable to all, and will be offering a sliding-scale for my services, so that no one is excluded from receiving the essential care they need.

Most importantly, my practice prioritizes your and your baby’s needs first. This journey can be really hard for some families and isn’t always intuitive. I am here to listen, answer your questions and meet you where you are at, in this moment. I’m excited to connect with you in person or online, and look forward to supporting you with safe, non-judgemental care throughout your entire breastfeeding journey.

“Shuli was an absolute lifesaver when I was struggling to nurse my newborn. We were in such a tough spot with her not nursing and me having to pump. I’d seen many lactation consultants at the hospital who couldn’t seem to get her latched. Within a minute of being with us, Shuli had gotten her latched on, and she never had a problem again. It was like magic! Not only that, but she had so many great tips and was so loving and thoughtful. You can tell how much she cares about moms and babies and all people. She brings a lovely energy to her expertise. I feel so grateful to her!!”

“The help of a lactation consultant is so important, especially in the beginnings. Shuli always gave us excellent advice, was always immediately available and proved to be a very experienced and educated lactation consultant. What I really appreciate is her intuition. She not only advises on breastfeeding, but is also a great support and advisor to parents.

We hired Shuli twice in total. For the first time, she helped me work on the correct latch and taught us how to calm our two-month-old son, who was just going through the witching hour fussy period. We have used this technique countless times. The second time, however, Shuli really saved the day. I had a breast infection, I was in pain for a few days and no one was available to advise me how to get rid of the infection. I wrote to Shuli and she came to us the same day. She showed me how to properly massage my breast and told me what supplements and medication to take. Shuli also talked with us about parenthood – she reminded us that it is a challenging time for every couple – exactly what we needed to be reminded of as we were feeling drained. We are grateful to have met her and would absolutely recommend her to other parents.”

“Sandy was so generous in joining us at our weekly New Parents and Babies Support Group.  She has a warm and inviting presence that put the group at ease.  Due to her extensive knowledge about lactation, she was incredibly helpful to the group by answering questions about breastfeeding, pumping, digestion, and bottle feeding.

“ I can’t recommend Shuli enough! With my second son I was having a really tough time getting a proper latch and found myself with bleeding and almost torn off nipples. She came out the day after I called and set us back on track. She is the perfect mix of medical education and experience, with an understanding, empathetic, and kind demeanor. She never made me feel like I was crazy and listened to every thought and question. Those first few weeks postpartum are so vulnerable and she is such a validating and calming presence.
She brought over several tools and was prepared with a lot of different options and techniques to try. She made sure my son and I got our latch figured out at her visit and was so helpful and responsive when I called with questions over the next few days. My son is breastfeeding like a champ now and we owe it to Shuli ❤️”
– Courtney, Griffin’s Mom

“I have had the privilege of knowing Sandy both personally and professionally for over 20 years. Sandy is a caring, compassionate nurse and lactation consultant. She is funny, creative and highly knowledgeable. She cares for her patients with a big heart.

She is dedicated to being up to date in her practice. With patients from my midwifery practice and from her lactation practice, we have engaged in regular case review.

I have been inspired by her to expand my practice to become a lactation consultant myself.

Patients are in very good hands with Sandy. I highly recommend her.”

About Sandy (Shuli)

I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a Postpartum, Pediatric, Emergency Room, and Holistic RN. I work part-time as a Lactation Consultant at an outpatient pediatric clinic in a Bay Area hospital. I am versed in mainstream and alternative modalities and up to date with the latest treatment protocols for lactation care.

I have lived in Marin for 28 years, raised my now two adult children here, and had a midwife-led hospital birth with my son and a home birth with my daughter.

I am passionate about providing practical strategies for lactation support to my communities here and abroad.

I have been committed to supporting refugees and indigenous communities in the US and internationally since I became a nurse in 2009.

In May 2023, I went to Syria and Lebanon to provide lactation support to mothers and newborns through hands on care, and training workshops to midwives and nurse living in refugee camps.  In 2019, I facilitated a lactation workshop for refugees from Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria and Iran in a refugee camp off the coast of Turkey. I look forward to offering compassionate and practical approaches to support the unique needs of your growing family.
